Hill Shade RV park is a small, hidden treasure. We're 11 miles west of Gonzales, Texas, nestled among more than 200 shade trees. Leave the city behind, and enjoy the peace and quiet.
There is an old, private boat ramp and fishing dock about two blocks away, which is open to the public (currently for no fee). This fishing lake has a lot of overgrowth, but people put in boats and fish off the old dock, despite its appearance. The conditions are not ideal, particularly if you do not have a boat. It depends on how determined ... desperate ... or stubborn you are!
Gonzales is known for its Texas history. Palmetto State Park and Lakewood Recreation Area are a short drive. We are one hour from Austin and San Antonio, and just two hours from Houston.
We have 30 and 50 amp sites, three 70' pull-thru's, clean restrooms, hot showers, a full laundry room and FREE WIFI throughout the park. We are family and pet friendly. Just keep them on a leash (the pets, not the kids!). We have daily, weekly and monthly rates. Our area draws Winter Texans for the season, so you might want to call ahead during the fall and spring.
